Last month we really enjoyed making two of these circular signs for the Cornish architectural practice - Marraum.
Intended for internal use, they wanted us to incorporate their black and yellow brand colours into the logo on the signs.
The logo included shapes and text which we needed to cut out separately from the main disc.
When we want to add colour to a project like this, we have to first paint the sheet of base material and then cut and etch through that painted layer. The logo also required a textured look to it, and so we experimented with etching random sized dots into the painted surface. We then stuck the laser cut pieces on to the backboard, which also had some additional etching on to it.
This job therefore involved a series of different processes. And we were delighted with the results.
If you would like a sign which incorporates some colour, contact us to discuss your ideas. Remember, we can't add spot colour by hand, but we can either use a 3D effect as we have done here, or can explore inserting coloured wood or recycled plastic, into cut-out sections of your sign. Our metal marking machine can also add certain colours to metal plates.
